I’m going to assume that if you’re reading this you already know that your heart is fairly important. I'm also going to give a educated guess that you already know that heart disease is a huge problem with people as they get older with age. The disease heart disease is biggest killer in the United States alone. Around two thousands Americans die because of this disease each day. So what the heck is so important about the heart anyways? The major responsibility of the heart is to inject and push out blood. The reason blood is crucial to your health is because it is similar to the highways of your body. For example how would trash be removed from your city if there was no highways? Also how would the very crucial things get to the places that they need to go? If you lost your heart you cease to exist in a very short amount of time.
So we can all agree that heart is one of the most important muscles in your system. The reason heart rate is important is because it’s somewhat of a measure of your health. The measurement really has to do with taking it when you’re resting. The most ideal time is when someone is the most rested for example right after they wake up. Also if you just had a crazy dream that speeds up your heart that is probably not the best time to get your resting heart rate. There are many ways someone can take the measurement of their heart rate and the easiest would be to take two fingers and touch their neck or inner wrist. Then count to 10 seconds and find out how many beats there were. Then multiply that number by six and you have a decent estimate on what it is. The average resting heart rate is between 50 to 100 beats per minute.
Of course a lot has to do with a person age and everyone is different. The better someone's health is the lower the number is. I like to compare it to if a person was really not in good shape for them to do say ten pushups it would be very difficult and if someone was in good physical shape than ten pushups would be very easy. It is the same thing as a heart rate, which is why someone can get some great information from measuring it.
Another thing to think about is your peak heart rate. In a nutshell anything over someone's maximum heart rate can be dangerous and it is the most beats someone's heart can pump safely. If you take the number 220 minutes your age that is a good estimate on what someone's peak heart rate is. It is interesting to note that if someone is not in a good physical shape they can hit this number much easier than if someone was very fit. Also when you exercise having a high heart rate is good because it means your heart has to give your muscles a lot more energy which means you’re really exercising.
